Faruk Malami Yabo
International Development Director
Faruk Malami Yabo MFR, is a recipient of Presidential National Honor, Member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for his outstanding public service as Honorable Commissioner for Finance and subsequently, Honorable Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development in Sokoto State, Nigeria between 2007 to May 2015.
He was also a Member of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), as well as a Member of the National Joint Tax Board (JTB). He served as Chairman Millennium Development Goal (MDG) Conditional Cash Transfer Program (CCT) Sokoto State, Nigeria, this earned him recognition by the National Office of the MDG.
His delivery on infrastructure, primary health care, security initiative and functional entrepreneurship model have earned him recognition from national and international institutions. Which includes USAID, the Department of State Services (DSS), State of Georgia, USA, the State of Maryland, African Leadership Magazine Grassroots Development Award and News Watch Commissioner of the year award.
Prior to joining the Public Sector, Faruk worked with Bank of the North Ltd. In the late 1990s, he founded a technology Company called 'K-Tech', which pioneered the introduction of Computer Software in three Major Nigerian Languages.
He studied Public Administration in Bayero University Kano and holds Masters Degree in Public Policy Administration (MPPA) from the same University. Faruk was at Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government where he studied Public Financial Management. He also attended the University of Manchester, Manchester business school where he studied International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
His professional membership includes; Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered National Accountant (CNA), Fellow at the Chartered Institute of Economics of Nigeria (FCIEN), Associate, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACIT), Member of Chartered Institute of Administration (MCIA), Fellow Certified Financial Analysts (FCFA).
Upon assuming his current position as International Development Director in NEW AD, he has created a profound business consciousness and connection with the public and private sectors, towards understanding the sustainability and the viability of green technology in the Continent of Africa.
He is leading the drive towards migrating African farmers from the use of chemical fertilizer to the application of organic fertilizer, in order put a stop to soil degradation. This initiative is also promoting the conversion of waste to energy.
